The first edition of “TENIS EN PUNTA” was at the end of 2005.
David Nalbandian, who arrives to Punta del Este after defeating Federer in the final of the Tennis Masters in Shanghai, was the star of the exhibition, followed by the chilean Nicolás Massu (double gold medal in Athens the previous year). The other two players of this exhibition tournament were the Brazilian Fernando Meligeni (top 100 during more than 10 years) and the argentino Mariano Zabaleta (21 ATP).
The first day Massú defeated Zabaleta 46 64 64 and then Nalbandian beat Meligeni 63 61.
the second day, the trophy was for David Nalbandian who defeat Nicolás Massú 63 61
